Big Brothers Big Sisters
Services
- Big Brothers Big Sisters is a program of matching friends -- one adult with one child -- who needs stability and companionship. Through such a relationship, the child is able to develop a heightened sense of self-worth and both child and adult experience satisfaction. Matches spend a minimum of 4 hours a month together and participate in activities that they already enjoy doing.
Eligibility
- Children from Jefferson, Elk, or McKean Counties, ages 5 and up, who want and could benefit from an additional positive adult role model in their life.
Service Area
- McKean County
- Elk County
- Jefferson County
Program Staff
- Bachelor's level program coordinators and casemanagers are responsible for casemanagement, fundraising and public relations in all county programs.
- Staff interview and screen potential volunteers with a written application, an in-home interview, by contacting 4 references, and assist in the completion of various background checks.
Referral Procedure
- Parents of "Littles" can call the local office to apply to be matched: McKean County (814) 362-1834 or Elk and Jefferson Counties (814) 371-0613 or toll free 1-877-776-1636.
