Family Centers
Services
Family Centers are based in the community and offer a variety of activities for families and children of all ages. While each Family Center is unique, the following core services are offered:
- Personalized home visits on child development issues for parents with children aged birth to five years.
- Parent workshops and support groups.
- Parent-child playgroups and a parent-child playroom with developmentally appropriate toys.
- A toy, book and video lending library.
- Developmental, vision and hearing screenings for children aged birth to five years.
- After school activities for children in kindergarten to third grade.
- Family enrichment activities and events.
- Information and help accessing other community resources.

Program Staff
Family Development Specialists conduct home visits and coordinate center-based activities. Family Development Specialists are certified parent educators through the Parents as Teachers National Center. Many of the Family Development Specialists are degreed in a human service related field or non-degreed individuals possessing a wealth of parenting experience.
