Family Based Services
Services
- Intensive home-based family therapy and support services for families of children with serious emotional and behavioral disturbances.
- Family Based Services is designed to reduce or prevent out-of-home placements for children.
- Therapists work with families to improve the functioning of the child and to help families better cope with their children's emotional and behavioral needs.
- Weekly sessions generally include a parent session, a child session and a family session.
- Crisis service provided by staff twenty-four hours per day/seven days a week.
Eligibility
- Children and adolescents under the age of 21 with a mental health diagnosis.
- Without intervention, the child is at-risk for out-of-home placement.
- The child's symptoms result in a significant level of family conflict and family relational problems.
- No cost to families.

Staff
- Each family enrolled in this program works with a two-person team: a Master's Level therapist and a Bachelor's Level casemanager.
- All Family Based Services staff complete a three-year training program in family therapy during their tenure with the program.
Referral Procedure
- Psychiatric or psychological evaluation specifically recommending a referral to Family Based Services within 60 days of starting the program.
