Job Overview: Mobile Crisis services are provided in the community to persons experiencing a mental health crisis. Service includes crisis intervention, assessment, counseling, resolution, referral and follow-up. 

Responsibilities and Duties:   

  • Be on-call and available for dispatch during hours of operation as directed by supervisor. 
  • Provide mental health crisis intervention services to persons or agencies requesting service. 
  • Develop and maintain collaborative productive relationships with assigned departments in all police jurisdictions of McKean County. 
  • Develop a collaborative relationship with county emergency services and have an understanding of forensic protocols and processes. 
  • Participate in hospital discharge planning. Track Mental Health hospital admissions/discharges. Facilitate “warm handoff’ or smooth transition for individuals moving from inpatient to outpatient treatment. 
  • Develop a complete and thorough understanding of Pennsylvania’s Mental Health Procedures Act and assist with both voluntary and involuntary hospitalization of individuals in crisis. 
  • Work closely with the Assertive Community Treatment program to assure crisis planning with the individuals being served in accordance with the priorities and goals of the ACT team 
  • Develop a complete and thorough understanding of support services and agencies within McKean County. Follow up with consumers in establishing contact and support from these services. 
  • Provide periodic crisis related training to staff at the Guidance Center and other agencies in the community. 
  • Participate in Base Service Unit meetings as appropriate and other collaborative meetings for the purpose of furthering the wellbeing of consumers. 
  • Periodically provide walk-in services, when these services are otherwise unavailable, to individuals seeking immediate assistance. 

Education and Experience:   

  • A bachelor’s degree with major coursework in sociology, social work, psychology, gerontology, anthropology, political science, history, criminal justice, theology, nursing, counseling, education, or related field.
