The Guidance Center is a leading community service provider in Northwest Pennsylvania. We dedicate ourselves to meeting the unique needs of our community through providing a wide range of inclusive and responsive services for individuals and families in all stages of life. Our staff work every day to help people live their best lives through setting and reaching personal goals, forming, and sustaining meaningful community connections, and achieving positive outcomes in behavioral health, wellness and more.
As a nonprofit agency established in 1984, The Guidance Center employs a staff of approximately 175. Although the majority of services are based in McKean County, some specialized services extend into other neighboring communities.
Certified Trauma-Informed Care Center
The Guidance Center participates in the North Central Trauma Informed Care Initiative and is a Trauma-Informed Care Center (NC TICC).
Through this initiative therapists demonstrate competencies in trauma treatment through training and certification in evidenced-based therapies including: Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Seeking Safety. In addition, a multi-disciplinary team at The Guidance Center examines agency practices and makes recommendations for improvements that support a trauma informed environment for clients and staff.
