Overview
Our agency is located in Northwest Pennsylvania and offers a wide variety of community based services including; mental health, intellectual disabilities, education and prevention services. As a nonprofit agency established in 1984, The Guidance Center employs a staff of approximately 200. Although the majority of services are based in McKean County, some specialized services extend into other neighboring communities.
The Guidance Center Named a Certified Trauma Center
The Guidance Center participates in the North Central Trauma Informed Care Initiative and recently was named a Trauma-Informed Care Center (NC TICC).
Through this initiative therapists demonstrate competencies in trauma treatment through training and certification in evidenced-based therapies including: Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Seeking Safety. In addition, a multi-disciplinary team at The Guidance Center examines agency practices and makes recommendations for improvements that support a trauma informed environment for clients and staff.
