On Tuesday, August 4, staff from The Guidance Center participated in a Poverty Simulation Experience designed to increase awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and families living in poverty.

During the simulation, participants were tasked with navigating a month’s worth of real-life decisions involving employment, housing, transportation, healthcare, and finances while working within limited resources. The experience offered valuable insight into the obstacles many community members encounter daily and highlighted the complex realities of economic hardship.

The training reinforced The Guidance Center’s commitment to providing compassionate, person-centered services and gave staff a deeper appreciation for the resilience of the individuals and families they serve. The lessons learned will continue to inform and strengthen TGC’s approach to supporting the community.
