The Board of Directors of The Guidance Center is pleased to announce the selection of a new Executive Director. Denise Bean, Ph.D. has been selected to serve as the organization’s new executive director. Dr. Bean began her leadership July 1, 2020 following the retirement of Ed Mialky.

Dr. Bean joined The Guidance Center in 2017 as the Director of Drug and Alcohol Services and Quality Management. Prior to accepting this position, she was the Executive Director of Beacon Light Behavioral Health Services and has over 30 years of experience working in nonprofit behavioral health. Denise earned an undergraduate degree in Habilitative Sciences and Special Education from Clarion University; a Master’s in Counseling Psychology from St. Bonaventure University and has a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from H. Abel School of Psychology/Capella University.  Denise is focused on fiscal viability in an ever-changing market and continuing to look at areas of unmet needs in the community.

“I am excited to continue working with The Guidance Center in this new role,” said Dr. Bean. “The sustainability of our nonprofits is critical to the success of our communities in the State.”  Reverend Rob Klouw, The Guidance Center’s Board Chair, believes this is a natural next step for the agency. “Denise’s experience and education will be a great asset to the organization and will build off of the great momentum that the staff have already put in place for us.”
