BRADFORD, PA -The Guidance Center is proud to support SIDEARM (Support, Intervention, Diversion, Education, Active Risk Management), a community initiative focused on reducing firearm-related suicide in rural communities.

With the message “Lock Down. Link Up. Live On,” SIDEARM encourages safe firearm storage, promotes awareness and education, and connects individuals and families with resources and support during difficult times.

Suicide prevention remains a critical public health priority. According to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency, more than 1,000 Pennsylvanians died by firearm suicide in 2023, with firearm suicides accounting for nearly 60% of all gun-related deaths across the state.
As part of its commitment to prevention efforts, The Guidance Center is offering free firearm trigger locks at its main office located at 110 Campus Drive, Bradford, PA 16701. Community members may stop by during business hours to receive a trigger lock. The Guidance Center’s staff are available to assist with distribution and provide information about local supports and available behavioral health resources.

By increasing access to safe storage tools and encouraging open conversations about behavioral health, The Guidance Center’s SIDEARM Initiative aims to help save lives and strengthen our community.
