Job Overview: The Psychiatrist provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment services to individuals with mental health and substance use disorders. This role emphasizes expertise in addiction medicine while maintaining a broad general psychiatry practice. The Psychiatrist delivers high-quality, evidence-based care across outpatient and community-based settings, collaborating closely with interdisciplinary treatment teams.   

Responsibilities and Duties:    

  • Provide psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for individuals with mental health and substance use disorders, including medication management and ongoing monitoring of treatment effectiveness. 
  • Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychiatric medications, including controlled substances, and order, review, and interpret appropriate diagnostic and laboratory testing. 
  • Deliver addiction-focused psychiatric care, including assessment and treatment of substance use disorders, co-occurring conditions, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT), as appropriate. 
  • Conduct individual and group psychiatric or behavioral health treatment services, consistent with scope of practice, credentialing, and program needs. 
  • Complete psychiatric evaluations, treatment plans, and clinical reviews, and provide written recommendations for appropriate levels of care and supportive services. 
  • Provide consultation and clinical guidance to behavioral health treatment staff across outpatient and community-based settings to support coordinated, high-quality care. 
  • Supervise, collaborate with, and provide clinical oversight to non-physician providers and trainees, as assigned and within regulatory requirements. 
  • Complete clinical documentation and required medical or insurance-related forms (e.g., disability, Social Security) accurately, thoroughly, and in a timely manner, in compliance with agency policies and payer standards. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practices, emerging therapies, and regulatory requirements related to psychiatry and addiction medicine. 
  • Perform other related duties as assigned and within the scope of licensure, credentialing, and organizational needs. 

 

Education and Experience:    

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school. 
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Psychiatry 
  • Board eligible or board certified (preferred) in Psychiatry 
  • Child (under 10 years of age) experience and/or addictions experience preferred 
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 
  • Current DEA registration with authority to prescribe controlled substances.
