On August 6th, The Guidance Center’s Parents as Teachers program partnered with the Clearfield Jefferson LICC-Kid Council to host a special group at Irvin Park, in Curwensville.  TGC staff were joined by CIU10 and Service Access Management representatives.
During the event, families were introduced to each other, encouraged to join the free-play activities that were provided, explore the park, and create new friendships.  Parents were able to help their children make their own PB&J sandwiches and scoop watermelon onto their plates.  Large cookie cutters were provided, allowing the children to make their sandwich into a shape of an animal, heart, or star.
The story Where’s My Teddy was shared with families.  Each child was then able to stuff a koala bear to create their own stuffed animal to take home, along with the third book in the “Eddy and the Bear” series My Friend Bear.  Families helped the children get their bears stuffed and held conversations about their children’s behaviors, summer activities, and some even stayed at the park after the group ended to allow the children to spend more time together.
